WORKSHOP CRAFTSMAN
$30/hr ($70,200/yr)
average 45 hrs/week

full-time permanent 

The Workshop Craftsman will manage the organization and production of finished lumber in a well equipped workshop, opened in April 2021, with state of the art/high end tools and instruments, listed below.

  • Wood Mizer MP 360 Planer/Molder
  • Laguna 12″ jointer/planer
  • Laguna 9″ by 25″ thickness planer
  • Laguna 24″ industrial belt sander
  • Sure Stop table saw with power feed
  • Dewalt Compound Miter Saw
  • Oneida 10HP dust collector

Education: Secondary school diploma. No post secondary education necessary
Experience:  Communication, reading, writing and math skills. Must have working knowledge and 3 years experience lumber dressing/finishing. SAWMILL and/or  LUMBER YARD EXPERIENCE AN ASSET!

Tasks: Saw, trim and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes and various finished products. These include tongue & groove, shiplap, etc. Set up and adjust equipment and replace blades using wrenches, gauges and other hand tools. Clean and maintain equipment and work area. Manage waste and package by-products for sale. Other duties as assigned. Follow company safety protocols and complete training as assigned.

GENERAL LABOURER
$15/hr (if age 16+)  15 hrs/week
student, part-time permanent 
opportunity for full-time summer employment

Education: Secondary school diploma No post secondary education necessary (in progress for student position)
Experience:  Communication, reading , writing and math skills. Knowledge/experience with the use of table saw, compound miter saw, planers/ jointer or similar equipment. Use of band saw sawmill and/or relative work history in the lumber business an asset, including chainsaw experience. SAWMILL and/or  LUMBER YARD EXPERIENCE AN ASSET!

Tasks: Work with team in organizing and placing logs and lumber inventory. Remove debris from lumber yard. Use of wrenches, gauges and other hand tools. Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment. Operate tractor and skid steer with forklift or log grapple. Manage waste and package by-products for sale. Other duties as assigned. Follow company safety protocols and complete training as assigned.

Weight Handling: Physical stamina to lift/carry 50+ pounds
Work Setting: Sawmill Outdoors, all weather
Own Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, work gloves
Work Site Environment: Noisy, Dusty, Un-even ground
Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Drivers License
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity and fine motor skills, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, standing for extended periods
Personal Suitability: Team player, coachable, independent worker, able to follow instructions and take direction
